Our office looks forward to giving back to the community and getting some exercise every August for the Kiwanis 5K run. See the information below on how you can participate as well.

The Scottsburg Kiwanis Club will hold its annual 5K Run/Walk at Hardy Lake State Park starting at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26.  The regular fee for admission to the park will be waived for race participants.

The Race will start and finish at the beach area, just a short distance from where the Friends of Hardy Lake will be serving a marvelous breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. (only $6.50 for adults, $3.00 for kids ages 3-12, and free for kids under 3).

The fee for race participants is $20 per person.  Runners and Walkers can register directly with the Scottsburg Kiwanis Club, in which case the registration fee will go directly toward funding the Kiwanis Club’s many programs that benefit the children or Scott County, or they can register through any of our Participating Organizations, which will retain 50% of the fees collected to support their own programs.  Those Participating Organizations include CASA, CRADLE, Scottsburg Boys Basketball Team, Lexington Good Faith PreSchool, and the Youth Grantmaking Council.

Runners and Walkers are encouraged to get Personal Sponsors to benefit the organization which they are supporting.  100% of the money collected from Personal Sponsors will go to the organization which the Runner or Walker is supporting.  Three Special Awards will be given to 1) the Participating Organization that raises the most money from Personal Sponsors, 2) the Participating Organization sponsoring the individual Runner or Walker who raises the most money from Personal Sponsors, and 3) the Participating Organization sponsoring the individual Runner or Walker who has the most Personal Sponsors.  (Participating Organizations are eligible to receive a Special Award in only one category.)

Special Awards with be given to the first male finisher and the first female finisher, the first finisher with a child in a stroller, and the finisher with the best costume.  In addition, certificates of recognition will be given to the male and female runners and the male and female walkers with the best times in the following age groups: 19 and under; 20 through 39; 40 through 59; 60 through 69; and 70 and older.
